Sundowner Spot: The Radisson Blu Hotel

I am a HUGE fan of ‘the sundowner’. I love the idea of watching my favourite part of the day from a gorgeous place with delicious drink in hand (and maybe a snack or two).

Tobago’s Bar and Terrace at the Radisson Blu Hotel at the Waterfront has long been one of my favourite spots for this in Cape Town. Located on Beach Road in Granger Bay, it is just far enough from the V&A Waterfront to avoid the crazy traffic. The hotel is right on the water’s edge and offers panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. It really is the perfect spot to watch the sun go down after a long day in this busy city.

I love this spot all year round because although it is right on the water, the bar area is cleverly designed and is quite sheltered from the wind. In winter there are outdoor heaters that warm up the space as well.

Their drinks menu is extensive, offering everything from soft drinks and fresh juices to signature cocktails, single malt whiskeys and fine wines, champagnes. There are also bar snacks available to order. Some of my favourite wines like the Springfield Life from Stone, Rupert & Rothschild Classique, and The Terra Del Capo Sangiovese are available by the bottle. See the full bar menu here.

The other great thing about The Radisson Blu Hotel is that there is PARKING. Reasonably priced above and below ground parking is available to guests of the hotel and to ad-hoc visitors like me.
