Listed on Traveller.com.au’s ‘Top 10: Comedy Club’s Around the World’, The Cape Town Comedy Club has grown from strength to strength over the years and now has a home right on our doorstep at the V&A Waterfront. Situated in the historical Old Pumphouse building, the venue has an industrial feel with visible steel trusses painted red to highlight them.
I was invited to the club as part of a Tweet Seats event last week and I was embarrassed to admit that I am a born and bred Capetonian and yet I had never been before. I learnt very quickly that I had been missing out on this must-visit Cape Town spot.
The Cape Town Comedy Club is Cape Town’s only dedicated comedy club and hosts some of our most loved South African comics as well as comics from all over the world from Wednesday to Sunday. The line-up changes every night, keeping it fresh and meaning that your experience is always different every time you visit the club.
There is an ample a-la-carte menu with all the kinds of indulgent food we hate to love, like pizza (you can even get a gluten free base HELLO), burgers, steak and a Cape Town favourite, the Gatsby. There is also a choice of delicious desserts starting with a dark chocolate brownie. The drinks menu has all the staples but also includes a large selection of shooters for a perfect start to the party. See the full menu here.
There is secure parking available across the road at the Portswood parking area opposite The Watershed at the V&A.
Feel like a laugh? The Cape Town Comedy Club is just the ticket.
